Ring Video Doorbells have a built-in camera that allows residents to see a live video feed of what’s happening at their front door at any given moment. The doorbell’s sensors can also alert residents when motion is detected at their front door. These videos can be stored in the cloud if the resident pays for monthly storage. Residents can use the Ring app to adjust Motion Zones and sensitivity as well as participate in the online community, the Neighbors App.

The Long Beach Police Department does not have direct access to footage captured by any Ring subscriber or owner. However, should a crime occur in an area near Ring Doorbells, Department employees can contact residents and request to access videos to determine if the Ring camera captured pertinent details. Residents decide whether they are willing to share any videos with the Police Department.
